May 14, 2026
Insureds that have questions about ethical issues, best practices, and attorney standard of care matters have access to our risk management department through our attorney help line. This dedicated resource is designed to support TLI’s insured attorneys navigate issues of legal ethics and risk management that arise in their practices. Attorneys who answer these calls can provide guidance, practical tips and strategies to minimize potential ethical and malpractice pitfalls. Insureds can email rskmgmt@tlie.org or call 800-252-9332.
At TLI, we believe that loss prevention and risk management is an integral part of the relationship with our members and a significant benefit we can offer. Our relationship doesn’t end with the issuance of your policy. We provide ongoing support, including access to our loss prevention attorney who can answer your questions and offer guidance on issues that may arise in your practice. All TLI Members can email rskmgmt@tlie.org for help with proactive measures to safeguard against potential risks.
As a TLI insured, we not only protect you when things go wrong, but we also offer best practice recommendations to enhance your practice and minimize exposure to claims.
We offer a range of in person and FREE on demand CLE focused on essential topics such as client engagement, common practice pitfalls, use of technology, client communication, and wellness. We also offer articles and blog posts covering best practices in legal ethics, client management, and effective case handling.
TLI can also assist in developing and/or reviewing internal policies and procedures that promote compliance and risk awareness.
Last, TLI has a form bank with forms available to its members on common documents used in every day practice consistent with our best practices recommendations.
TLI recognizes that minimizing risks is essential to your practice’s success. As such, TLI’s loss prevention attorney is available to help you identify, assess, and mitigate potential issues before they lead to claims. For example, we believe that effective client communication is key to preventing claims.
TLI provides resources and training on how to manage client expectations, address concerns proactively, and document interactions to avoid miscommunications which can lead to grievances and claims.
Members can email rskmgmt@tlie.org for assistance with questions on ethics and malpractice issues before they result in a more serious problem.
There are times when an issue needs a more thorough analysis and/or legal opinion than what TLI can offer its members through our attorney help line or risk management consult. In those situations, TLI will make an appropriate referral of the matter to an outside ethics attorney for further engagement. Further, TLI will pay for the first hour of the engagement with that outside ethics counsel.
