In the last quarter of 2025, TLI closed 16 claims which cost approximately $857,482 to defend and bring to resolution. We are providing summaries of several of the closed claims with lessons learned to further benefit our insureds in their own practices: 

Deadlines and Limitations 

Insured law firm took a referral of a personal injury case from another law firm. The intake form filled out by the client stated she did not know the date of injury. The referring firm informed the Insured firm the date of injury was in May of 2022. However, there was video of the accident that reflected a time stamp of April 2022. The Insured firm filed suit based on the date communicated by the referring firm without noticing the timestamp. As a result, the Insured filed suit 6 days too late.   Client retained Insured attorney to represent her in a personal injury suit against a cruise liner company. Insured filed suit based on two-year statute of limitations. However, language included on client’s ticket for the cruise provided that any suit to recover on a personal injury claim…
