TLI TOP TIP: Mental Health Minute

At this time of year when we reflect on resolutions for the New Year, we encourage all attorneys to embrace changes and habits that will support their mental health and the mental health of those they mentor, coach, teach, and supervise.  

Make time for you –Being a lawyer is not a 24-7 job. Start a hobby, spend time with family, or carve out time to do nothing at all.  

Exercise – Elle Woods said it best: “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy...” But in all seriousness, the studies uniformly show that exercise helps with anxiety, depression and general mental health. The exercise does not have to be rigorous.  Just walking 30-35 minutes 3-5 times a week is beneficial.
