TLIE Declares $5,000,000 Distribution
2017 was another very good year for Texas Lawyers’ Insurance Exchange and our members. In years that premiums earned exceed projected claims, TLIE returns money to its insureds in the form of a policyholder distribution. I am pleased to report that on December 15, 2017, TLIE’s Board of Directors declared a $5,000,000 policyholder distribution. This is TLIE’s 21st consecutive distribution since 1997. TLIE has now returned to its member insureds a total of $51.3 million!
TLIE’s strong performance also enabled us to strengthen policyholder surplus this year to over $65 million as of November 30, 2017. Based in part on the strength of TLIE’s surplus, A.M. Best recently affirmed TLIE’s financial strength rating of “A” (Excellent). Strong policyholder surplus is important because it provides protection from future uncertainties and helps ensure that TLIE will be here when you need us.
