On March 3, 2008, Texas Lawyers’ Insurance Exchange lost another member of the family and the legal community lost a great lawyer. Mr. Harry Marks passed away on this date at the age of 72.
Harry was not only a highly regarded attorney, he was a generous active supporter of many charitable causes in the Corpus Christi area. He was a very humble individual with a great intellect and inquisitive mind. Harry joined the Board of Directors in 1996 and his quiet dignified approach to service was admired by both other Board Members and the staff. He truly enjoyed the practice of law with his partners at Gary, Thomasson, Hall and Marks. One of Harry’s many acts of charity was to serve as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and President of the Morris L. Lichtenstein Jr. Medical Research Foundation.
Harry is survived by Marcia, his wife of 47 years and his son Gregory and daughter-in-law Robin Marks, by his daughter Melissa and son-in-law Daniel Garner, by his two grandsons Brandon and Ryan Marks along with a host of friends.
Harry had a unique style when asked for advice – he did not give it. Instead, he would gently and patiently begin to ask questions about the problem. His questions simply led you to find a correct solution to the matter. Mr. Marks was not only one of many bosses but he was also a mentor and more importantly he was my friend. I miss him now and will miss him in the future as will all others his life may have touched.
