This CLE will explore the potential pitfalls for plaintiffs, defendants and insurers under federal statutes and regulations which require reporting of settlements and reimbursement of Medicare payments for patients who recover in subsequent lawsuits. Recent regulations can result in fines of as much as $1,000 per day for failure to properly report settlements, and lawyers and insurers can be liable for disbursements that should have been paid to Medicare.

This course will not count towards ethics credit as other TLIE CLE typically does, but will qualify for 2 hours of general CLE credit.
