Texas Lawyers' Insurance Exchange is happy to offer CLE in Austin at the AT&T Conference Center on the University of Texas campus on March 30, 2012 at 2pm. This CLE will explore the potential pitfalls for plaintiffs, defendants and insurers under federal statutes and regulations which require reporting of settlements and reimbursement of Medicare payments for patients who recover in subsequent lawsuits. Recent regulations can result in fines of as much as $1,000 per day for failure to properly report settlements, and lawyers and insurers can be liable for disbursements that should have been paid to Medicare.
